You’re On Your Own, Kid

Things that didn’t happen in life, those who left you when you needed them the most — maybe those people and those things you wanted weren’t meant for you. You are on your own. Nobody will take care of you, look after you, or check on you if you are having a bad day, a nervous breakdown, or feeling the worst of life with continuous anxiety. You have to take care of yourself.

Being 18 years old, I now realize how fast life moves on, how all those years just pass by in a moment. All the things I promised myself to acquire or learn — I haven’t gotten the chance to explore. Time passing by is a reminder of the precious moments slipping away from life.

Stop lamenting over the things you haven’t achieved. You are the future of yourself, filled with immense possibilities. You can be whoever you want to be. You can live anywhere in the world if you wish. You are capable of all this. Life is short yet long enough to fight with yourself.

Life is short on Earth; it’s important to choose the life you really want to live. You are an individual who deserves to have your own space, respect, and live on your own timeline. You need to be aware of your actions — everything has a price on Earth, and you can’t take anything for granted.

There are times when I want to understand pain and feel it deeply, but all those feelings don’t last long. Some things on Earth are so beautiful, like having a wonderful family, friends, and the warmth of nature filled with beauty. It’s such an amazing feeling to be loved unconditionally (if you are lucky enough).

We only understand our home when we view it from the perspective of an outsider. Life on Earth is hard — it’s never an easy journey. There will be moments of sheer happiness and lots of laughter. You will feel euphoric joy when you graduate from college, get married, or have a child. These moments are amazing feelings.

There will also be sheer unhappiness. Life doesn’t always work the way you want, but the reminder is that you are worthy of love and spreading love. Not because you’ve done something that changed humanity, but because just being a kind person is enough.

Every phase of your life is important. It doesn’t matter how old you are or if you only have a few days left on Earth. Our worth is innate — it’s something we are born with. It does not change just because we are growing older. Every human is worth the same. We deserve to be loved, cared for, and valued simply because we exist. Life itself is a gift.

Things that once were are now memories.
The place that once was home now feels like a stranger.
Moments of happiness scattered into sorrow.
Things that are broken today will mend tomorrow —
Only to break again in a continuous cycle.
